My name is Donna. I like to fish and hunt. I live in Oregon. I like to fish and hunt.
I am married to JSGS. We have two kids, Amy 21 and Mac 19. Both of our kids just moved away to college so the empty nest syndrome has started for me. It has been about 17 years since I have actually hunted. My last hunt was killing a Blacktail Buck with my bow. Thank goodness my husband showed up to dress it out for me. I am looking forward to some new hunting and fishing adventures. Oh, I love to shoot and kill sage rats in Eastern Oregon. I also enjoy photography. I might enjoy photographing hunts better than the hunt itself. I love to photograph or video the reactions of the first kill and the beautiful shots of an early morning Duck Hunt.
May the wind be with you.
Memories:
When shooting my bow I must always remember to keep my elbow out - dang it hurts when your bow string stings your forearm - but it also makes you laugh because it hurts so bad.
Blacktail venison is the best meat ever.
My first Elk Hunt with a bow was pretty awesome. Inexperienced I did not practice with my broad-heads but with my target tips. I shot level but about 2 feet to the right of the biggest Roosevelt EVER....... took about an hour for him to come in then again as an inexperienced hunter I pulled by bow back about three minutes to soon, but I held it back. After I shot and missed the Elk jumped back and looked toward me. But I did not get another shot. Then my husband continues to try and call the guy back. I am standing against a tree by this time shaking like I can't believe. Then all of a sudden this cow and calf approach me. They can smell me but they can't see me - I am CAMOED...... my husband continues to call the cow and calf continue to approach me. I put my hand down and motion stop stop to my husband and he thinks it is funny that the cow and calf are now about 6 feet from me, OMG. I finally turn and haul-ass backwards and hide behind the next tree. Needless to say my husband laughs at me to this day How many people can say they have been that close to a cow in calf. The hunt was a success but not with a kill.
Jody - remember the time we had to cross a dear fence. We climbed a tree you jumped over the fence, I handed you my bow and you said jump. Ya right, jump. So you came closer to me so I could put my feet on your shoulder, we were facing each other. Needless to say you fell backwards and humm - get the picture. We successfully crossed over the 8 foot dear fence and you cushioned my fall.
Okay one more good memory and this is for the girls. When the guys are all in camo it is hard to tell them apart. Well about 4 guys and myself set out for a hunt. I reached forward to pinch my husband in the butt......... it was not him. OMG
