We hunted geese out of ground blinds for years, in our part of Ne we have a lot of cedar trees and use them in camoing the blinds. Geese pay no attention to the cedars at all. We have used hay bales, ply wood, and commercial blinds with the same success.
We ( Corybdesign and I ) usually spend the evenings along a treeline and catch them going to roost or to water. I like treelines here in the NE panhandle cause they are few and far between. midday I like good weed patches with lots of sunflowers.
I go to a couple of little shows out here in the NE Panhandle, there is one in Brule next weekend, it's $3 to get in but I met some awesome people there including my taxidermist. I think the smaller shows that are mostly local guys are awesome and the money goes into a smalltown that can really use it.
We don't really have a DU chapter out here anymore. I will be at the Pheasants Forever Banquet in Sidney, NE on Friday March 5th. $10 bottomless beer, plenty of raffles and all are invited... Our NWTF banquet is on the 20th of march and I may actually get to go to that this year.
In almost all of the good snow goose DVD's almost every spead has a couple, we have them and used them for mallards but never tried for snows, we are going to use them on a couple hunts this year and see if it makes a difference. Let me know how it works in NE don't teach them(snow geese) to much before they get to sodak and save a few for me
of course In my opinion everyone should pick up not only shells but trash and ne thing else they find that doesnt belong one it helps the blinds remain "blind" and who wants to show up at 4am and walk on shells or trash. its common sense and if you dont you really should think about starting. Im an avid member of DU and were all about conservation thats 100% part of it.
